A lot of people mistaken Kim Bap, a traditional Korean dish, for sushi. Although they look a very similar Kim Bap has a different filling and they're eaten for different meals. Sushi is more of a meal, where it would be eaten for lunch or dinner. Meanwhile, Kim Bap is usually a snack. A lot of times it's for picnics or a "on-the-go" foods. It's also one of Korea's cheapest, yet has traditional value, foods. Sushi is generally made up of rice wrapped in seaweed with crab meat and seafood. But Kim Bap is wrapped with common foods, such as: eggs, carrots, cucumbers, and (pickled) radish.
The reason people misunderstand the difference between the two is because they look very similar in structure and because of ignorance of the Asian culture. The Japanese may have influenced this dish and introduced it to Korea, but they are definitely not the same. And Kim Bap is generally a bigger roll than sushi. Sushi can be altered with different seafood fillings like crab, shrimp, eel, etc. But Kim Bap is generally the same ingredients.
